Our spotlight show in 2019
DN Theatre is delighted to announce that our popular musical theatre classes are now running in two Edinburgh locations. We now have classes in Stockbridge and Merchiston. Our super fun drama classes give children aged from 4 to 16 years the opportunity to learn new skills and perform on stage, with a fabulous mix of singing, drama and dancing.
Drama classes perfect for our youngest performers
Our Musical Theatre Minis is designed for boys and girls aged from 4–6 years. It’s a fun-filled 60 minute class, jam-packed with singing, drama and dance. We explore the wonderful world of musicals, get under the skin of characters and find our voice in a fun, creative and supportive environment. The ideal first step on stage to help develop little personalities and creative team work.
Musical Theatre classes for young people of all ages
Our Musical Theatre Academy is for children aged from 7-16 years. It offers in-depth training and workshops over a 2 hours and 15 minutes. The class time is split between singing, vocal coaching, acting, script work, and stage choreography. The level of content is tailored to suit those attending. We typically split into smaller groups to allow focus on each skill in line with experience and ability. As students gain more experience, they will focus on more challenging vocal techniques and drama scripts.

Experience performing on-stage in Edinburgh
Every student will have the opportunity to perform on-stage at our biannual Spotlight shows. The whole company also has the opportunity to perform together on full chorus numbers. This gives all students a real feeling of achievement, teamwork and community. No prior experience is necessary. Our talented and professional teachers work in all genres of musical theatre. They are here to help students develop vocal technique and harmony. Students will also hone their acting skills and polish their stage-show dance technique.

Our musical theatre classes run at two fantastic venues in Edinburgh, with plenty of space for everyone. Choose from the Life Care Centre on Cheyne Street in Stockbridge, or the North Merchiston Club on Watson Crescent in Edinburgh. Whether your child has been singing, dancing and acting for years, or is ready to take their first step on stage, everyone is very welcome at DN Theatre.
